Taborah is an accomplished song writer and vocalist and has received a notable amount of success on the Billboard dance charts with such songs as "Ride on the Rhythm," "My Love for You," "Just Take Me Away," "I Can't Forget You Boy," "I've Got To Have You," "I Am," "All I Gave To You," "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now," and many others.
Born Taborah Adams in Long Island, New York, her talent began at the tender age of 4 as she studied dance with the Venettes Cultural Workshop in Wyandanch, New York. She attended the workshop for 14 years during which time she also took charm class and a few voice lessons. Through her parents love for music Taborah was constantly surrounded by it. Her mother sang and played piano, and her father sang and traveled with the acclaimed Fisk Jubilee Singers. It was at this early age that Taborah displayed her love for music and her vocal talents began to flourish.
Taborah's first recordings were with long time friend Karen DeRosa. These recordings were recognized by Antonio Verde of ACV Music and Taborah was chosen to become the songwriter, face and voice of the ever famous group Blackwood. She signed with the Italian label and released three albums. Blackwood consisted of Antonio, Marascia and Kortezman Sandro Murro. Blackwood's debut album "Ride on the Rhythm" was released in 1992. The album featured the single "All I Gave To You." The group continued to release singles as they developed their style. In 1996 Blackwood re-released "Ride on the Rhythm" as a single and it charted #1 in Billboards Hits of the World for 12 weeks. Taborah quickly recorded the group's second album "In The City", which was a mixture of soul and pop music and a video for "Ride on the Rhythm" that allowed the association of Taborah as the face of Blackwood. Blackwood was well respected and admired in the dance community. Production and remixes included Fabio Parisella and Alex Natale. Taborah toured Italy heavily as she was interviewing and appearing on many television and radio shows. Blackwood received the coveted FIMI Best Dance Act Award.
In 1997 Blackwood released their third album "I Am", which included the single "My Love for You". Again this single also charted to #1 and Taborah, although pregnant continued touring heavily. She taped her second video "My Love For You" while she was in her seventh month of pregnancy and stopped touring in her eighth. Italy knew Taborah as the face of Blackwood, but she continued to write singles that lead the group to success. Taborah was invited to perform in such places as the San Remo Festival. Remixes for "My Love For You" included Stefano Noferini.
Blackwood's third single "I Am" was released and distributed by BMG Italy Ricordi.
Taborah returned to Italy after giving birth and toured for seven weeks. The single again achieved charting success, but Taborah was no longer affiliated with the group Blackwood. The singles that Taborah wrote while with Blackwood have been licensed in over 53 countries.
After her tour Taborah decided to take a break from performing, but she continued to write songs. She and her mother opened "Kountri Korner", a country home and antique store. She decided to go back to college where she received an associates in Interior Design and a bachelor in Organizational Leadership. She often volunteered her time regularly to the Board of Education and the American Red Cross. When her daughter turned seven she returned to performing.
In 2004 Taborah released her first USA single "I Am" (the rising) under the label Catz Entertainment. The single was the remake of her Italian success "I Am." Production included Johnny Rocks, with remixes by Friscia and Lamboy, Giuseppe D and Jeff Barringer. The single received heavy club play across the country and landed on Billboard Dance Club Play Chart for 16 consecutive weeks. "I Am" (the rising) also became the 2005 tip-off song for the Women's National Basketball Association, New York Liberty for both home and away games. In November 2006, Taborah was honored with the distinguished "Artist of the Year" award from New York's Heritage of Pride. "I Am" earned its place as an evergreen. The demand of the record also encouraged features on Television and interviews with radio veteran, Joe Franklin.
Taborah's follow up single, "All I Gave To You" was yet another Italian success written by Taborah and released in 2006. Productions include Joe Bermudez & Klubjumpers, John Rizzo & Barry Huffine, Giuseppe D, and Josh Harris. This single also received heavy rotation in the clubs and on radio. During this time and even to date Taborah continues to volunteer her talent too many non-profit organizations such as Freedom Writer's Foundation, and LifeBeat's Hearts and Voices.
In 2008 Taborah released "You Gotta Go 'Cause I'm Through With You", on her label Lah Lah Music. The remix was by an up and coming young producer from the UK named Reflex. The single received almost instant radio play and the phase "no sit down, I'm not done yet", quickly become a favorite among teens everywhere. It also beat out Miley Cyrus on KNHC's Phat 5. Taborah's third video was released with this single and tells a story of a young girl who catches her boyfriend cheating and decides he's gotta go!
After the single Taborah released an E.P. entitled, "A Piece of Me." This variety style E.P. showcases her talents with a combination of music from different genres as it takes you on a brief musical journey. Taborah's love and passion for music is uniquely displayed, with talented productions from Karen De Rosa, Jason Still and Darren Noble.
Taborah together with C89.5 Richard J. Dalton recorded the classic Phyllis Hyman song "You Know How To Love Me." Richard threw down with a break-beat spin on a classic. This song caught the attention of listners abroud as it is a great twist to a soulful song.
2009 began with the release of a Taborah classic "All I Gave To You." This single was originally released in 1993 when Taborah was with the group Blackwood. The new single is produced by Simon Russo. It is the first release for the new house label "House Regulations" which is located in The Netherlands. The electro house mixes are a celebrated update of her classic hit, which seems to have a never ending life.
The year ended with the release of "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now" on the Billboard Dance Club Charts for 8 consecutive weeks. D1 Music, one of the top dance labels in the country, put the explosive vocals of Taborah and Darryl D'Bonneau on this timeless piece. The rhythm section moves with legendary two time Grammy nominated percussionist, Sammy Figueroa. The song is uplifting and a reminder that together we can do all things. Remixes include Josh Harris, Solar City and D1 Music. "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now" is already anthem, the remix will remind you that it will remain one for years to come.
Taborah's not wasting anytime this year. January 2010 kicks off with a new single. D1 Music and Taborah collaborate yet again with the release of "Say I Love You." This very catchy calypso reggae style track was made famous in 1981 by Australian pop artist Renee Geyer and written by Eddie Grant. Taborah sang the song in English and Spanish, "Dime Te Amo." Some remixes include Solar City, DJ Mann, John Rizzo, Murray Hood, Casey Alva, D1 Music and many, many more. It also features legendary Grammy nominated percussionist Sammy Figueroa. Calypso/reggae music has a worldly flavor to it and the remixes cover every culture! Sweet to the ears and the hips, this song is hot!
